WISHH Partner Highlights Soy’s Value to Healthcare Professionals in Guatemala

Alimentos S.A., ASA/WISHH strategic partners in Latin America, launched a new initiative to highlight the value of soy to healthcare professionals in Guatemala. Educational content on soy protein for health is being distributed to 300 healthcare professionals, including nutritionists, pediatricians, geriatricians, and general practitioners, through a dedicated medical visit program. In addition, patients of these doctors will also receive the materials, aiming to reach around 3,000 individuals. Alimentos imports U.S. soy to produce its soy-based food products, including Incaparina cereal, a product made from soy, corn, and oats.

The initiative stems from members of Alimentos participating in WISHH’s INTSOY short course hosted by the Northern Crops Institute. Following the course, the Alimentos S.A. team integrated its newfound knowledge into the creation of educational materials for Incaparina. These materials provide detailed insights into the composition of soybeans, their protein content, and comparisons with other plant-based protein sources, while also emphasizing the health benefits of soy, particularly its positive effects on muscle and bone health. Incaparina delivers 4 grams of protein per 30-gram serving.

Alimentos remains committed to promoting the health benefits of U.S. soy and continuing product development for soy-based foods, expanding its reach in Latin America.
