The ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program hosted a panel at the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance Identity Preserved International Summit in February. The panel, moderated by Asia Division Director Alan F. Poock, focused on highlighting the value of U.S. identity preserved soybeans and specialty grains with new users. Poock hosted several panelists who highlighted the importance of procuring U.S. soy and specialty grains for their products, including Sok Hung Chang, managing director of Yang Li Yi Tofu, which has worked with WISHH for more than half a decade.

Chang explained that since Yang Li Yi began its relationship with WISHH, the company has attended trade missions to the United States and Southeast Asia, visited with U.S. soybean growers, and received technical support and trainings from WISHH and SSGA. As a result, Yang Li Yi has procured several containers of IP food soybeans for its tofu and soymilk products.

As Yang Li Yi continues to develop its relationship with WISHH it has become an example of how WISHH fosters relationships with business partners to showcase the value of U.S. soy for its quality and reliability. Scheduled at the peak of shipping season and the beginning of the buying season, SSGA’s IP International Summit brings together business representatives from Asian countries for discussions and networking with the industry representatives.
