ASA/WISHH’s Training Program for Young Professionals Begins in Nigeria

Ten people stand side by side.
WISHH’s TPYP program is an example of how WISHH works with partners such as the United Soybean Board to provide knowledge and train the next generation of leaders globally, strengthening trade for U.S. soy.

The WISHH program’s United Soybean Board-supported Training Program for Young Professionals began last week in Nigeria. The on-farm program, in its second year in Nigeria, has been implemented through a partnership with a local business that provides in-kind support to leverage U.S. soy industry investment. TPYP, which expanded to Nigeria after a pilot phase in Ghana, provides on-farm training in best practices to produce more fish. The program ultimately could create a greater demand of U.S. soy from an increase in fish production.

Sej Farms plays host to the 10 interns in the program. The interns will learn firsthand skills in aquaculture, including soy-based fish feeding, water quality management, fish health, and digital marketing. Like its sister program in Ghana, the program helps prepare the next generation of African leaders while also building future trade partners for U.S. soy.
