The ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program welcomed strategic partners from Senegal and Ghana this week to Georgia for the University of Georgia’s poultry short course and the International Production and Processing Expo this January. The two major trade team events offer WISHH to showcase the inclusion and importance of soy in the poultry industry. Importantly, trade team members met with U.S soybean growers and learned how farmers support the poultry industry with sustainably grown soy.
UGA’s short course offers participants a comprehensive overview of modern poultry production in the United States. Several trade team members who have attended the course throughout the years have been inspired to expand their own poultry businesses while incorporating new technology and nutrition standards.
Additionally, IPPE, which delivers a variety of education sessions and interactive exhibits for those involved in the egg, poultry, and meat industries, also provided trade team members with the chance to meet international stakeholders. WISHH continues to sponsor IPPE as it means more than 30,000 attendees may learn more about the use of soy in poultry production.
The Illinois Soybean Association supported Senegalese members attending the conference. Additionally, WISHH used USDA Market Access Program funds for Ghanaian members.
