The ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program welcomed Cambodia business leaders for the Essential Amino Acid Short Course with the Northern Crops Institute last week. The course provided a comprehensive overview of the soy industry in the United States and was an extension of WISHH’s trade trip to Southeast Asia in Winter 2023.

The short course covered topics on innovative soy-based food development, fortification of foods with soy supplements, and its role in animal nutrition. Funded by the North Dakota Soybean Council and USDA Market Access Promotion funds, the course focused on highlighting the value of U.S. soybean meal, particularly emphasizing essential amino acids, and showcased the robustness of the U.S. transportation network as visitors toured a Mississippi river barge loading terminal, container loading facility and a BNSF transload yard.

The trade team welcomed all the major Cambodian feed millers in one setting, providing the stage for future collaboration and allowed U.S. soy supply chain leaders to showcase the trade value of U.S. soy.
